New LED products are appearing in the market rapidly — some very good, some not so good — and buyers must quickly learn how to determine which products will best suit their lighting needs.

Besides the opportunity for significant energy savings, LED technology also opens exciting design opportunities for architects, lighting designers, builders and consumers.

Jack Curran, PhD, President of LED Transformations, LLC has over 25 years of product development experience, including patents for a number of products based on LED technologies.  Dr. Curran has given numerous talks on the correct use of LED technology for general illumination applications both for his own company and on behalf of the U.S Department of Energy Solid-State Lighting Program.

Attendees will come away with an understanding of:

• LED lighting basics
• Strengths and weaknesses of LED technology
• Separating fact from fiction
• How and where LED lighting is appropriate
• Resources available

Well, you don’t have to imagine it! You don’t have to wait for the future! Joe Wheeler and the folks at Virginia Tech have already done it! And they won an international competition for a solar house! And now he’s coming to Alaska to share his experience on the project. Joins us this coming weekend to learn more.

lumenHAUS  …is a solar house designed and built at Virginia Tech as part of a research program that was begun in 2002. An innovative design integrating architecture and technology, the project won the international Solar Decathlon Competition in Madrid, Spain in June of 2010. lumenHAUS is a net zero-energy home that is completely powered by the sun.
